Job Summary
The Home Health Aide (HHA) plays a critical role in assisting clients with daily living activities, promoting independence, and ensuring their safety and well-being. The HHA works closely with nurses, caregivers, and healthcare professionals to provide non-medical support in a home or group home environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Provide mobility assistance, including transfers, walking support, and fall prevention.
- Support with meal preparation, feeding assistance, and dietary monitoring.
- Assist with medication reminders (under supervision of a licensed nurse).
- Perform light housekeeping tasks, including laundry, cleaning, and organizing.
- Accompany clients to medical appointments, errands, and community activities.
- Engage clients in social and recreational activities to promote well-being.
- Observe and report changes in health, behavior, or environment to the supervising nurse or administrator.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of care provided.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients and their families.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Home Health Aide (HHA) certification (preferred but not required).
- Experience in assisted living, group home, or home healthcare (preferred).
- Knowledge of basic caregiving techniques and patient safety.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license (if required for the position).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals with mental health conditions, physical disabilities, or chronic illnesses.
- Familiarity with state regulations.
- Multilingual abilities are a plus.
