Absolutely! Parents can fill both roles, supporting their loved ones as a staff member and acting as the designated Responsible Party.

While Respite staff typically don’t work overtime on a regular basis, there may be instances when a longer break is needed for the caregiver. In these situations, overtime may be allowed. What’s the difference between Basic Homemaker Services and 245D licensed Homemaker Services?
Basic Homemaker Services focus on cleaning and laundry but are not 245D licensed. There are two types of 245D licensed Homemaker Services:
- Homemaker/Home Management Services: Includes help with cleaning, laundry, meal prep, shopping, simple repairs, and transportation arrangements.
- Homemaker/Assistance with ADLs: Includes cleaning, laundry, and assistance with some personal care tasks.
How does someone qualify for Homemaker Services under a Waiver?
There are two ways to qualify for Waivered Homemaker Services:
- The person is unable to handle general household chores and activities on their own.
- The Primary Caregiver who usually manages these tasks is temporarily unavailable or unable to do so.

Starting wages for Night Supervision staff range from $18.75 to $19.75, depending on the region in Minnesota. In the metro area, the starting wage is $19.75.
